John 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 8:31-32 (KJV) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 16:12-13 (KJV) I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 17:16-17 (KJV) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The Gospel of St John begins with the Word which is both distinct from and is God (a subject to discuss and link here in the future Lord willing). Jesus Christ the Word of God (John 1:14, 17) who in the Gospel is recorded to have spoken of His word being true, His words from the Holy Spirit being true and the words of His Father being true. This is to say that the words of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all accurate to what they speak to, they are truth/truths. With that in mind all these words are contained in one Word, that is the person and mouthpiece of the Father which is Jesus Christ. The words and the Word of God is how we are set free from sin and set apart from the world as Jesus prayed for on behalf of His disciples. A spoken word from God is one thing, but to encounter the person of Jesus Christ is another thing because His actions reveal the actions of the Father because of their union with one another (John 14:9-11). So if we seek to be set free from sin we must read the Holy Scriptures of the Bible and keep the commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ out of love (John 14:15) which will bring us into union with Jesus Christ. Seek for the truth, eat it up and the chains of sin in our lives will be broken. Be conscious of your sins and from your repentance may it drive you by the grace of God to eating up so much truth that you will glow with radiant light as Christ did (Matthew 17:1-2).
